The beautifully vibrant colors of fall are beginning to fade, the air is getting colder, and the insects and animals are starting to nestle in for the winter. To me that only says one thing. It’s officially SOUP SEASON.
For those who may not know how it all started. I began Pinch of Fancy in 2021 releasing my first three spice blends. The following year, I started making soups that featured some of my spice blends to highlight the different flavors I was offering. I would give samples of the soups at markets, and tasting events. Almost immediately people were asking if the soups were available for sale. So, that winter I began making fresh soups that I would then freeze and sell at farmers markets. This was another avenue to grow my business and fill my own need to support local farms and take advantage of the season’s bounty.
I am fascinated by nature and support the positive symbiosis between humans and the earth; therefore, it is incredibly important to me to support local like-minded farms. I want to know what I’m eating and offering to my customers. Living in New England at this time of year is in my opinion, the best it gets. You will find winter squashes, potatoes, beets, apples, pumpkins, turnips, radishes, and more in a huge supply, and what better way to showcase all those delicious flavors than to make soup? A nice hot cup of soup on a cold day or when you’re feeling under the weather is purely soul-satisfying. Add some beautiful warming spices to it and they will take it to another level.
Starting this weekend, frozen soups will be available. I am changing it up this year and offering some new flavors. We will still have the always popular Mulligatawny Soup (curried coconut lentil soup), Moroccan Butternut Squash Bisque, and Southwestern Black Bean Soup. I am adding Mushroom Farro Soup and the extremely popular Chicken Soup to the mix. Soups will be available for purchase through my website and available for pick up only at markets or at my home. Please order ahead if you would like me to put some aside for you. At this time, soups are not available for shipping. We do however have recipes for some of our soups available on our website and I encourage you to pick a recipe and have fun with it.
Here to Inspire,
Kristin
